School Achievement Outcomes

Education is another factor that is major in child development and the effects of poverty. Poverty limits school achievement for some children but the cognitive ability is a bigger factor. Studies show that a 10% increase in family income show a .2% increase in the number of school years completed. The relationship between income and completion of school had shocking factors such as family structure, parent’s education, and neighborhood characteristics. Other results even say if poverty was eliminated, schooling (number of years) would increase in children.
